Aquaculture
Aquaculture is the New Zealand seafood industry's fastest growing sector. It is an exciting time for this relatively young sector and having a qualification in this field will help build your career path in this seafood sector. You will gain a better understanding of aquaculture innovation and environmentally sustainable practices which means healthy and high quality seafood for New Zealanders and the world market.
Aquaculture qualifications are nationally recognised and are based on unit standards which are the building blocks of each qualification. Each unit standard is specifically designed to recognise what you need to know and be able to do to support your role within the industry.
The following National Certificates (qualifications) are currently available in Aquaculture:
- National Certificate in Aquaculture (Level 2)
- National Certificate in Seafood (Level 3) with strand in Aquaculture
- National Certificate in Aquaculture (Introductory Fish Farming) (Level 3)
- National Certificate in Aquaculture (Caged Fish Farming) (Level 3)
- National Certificate in Aquaculture (Freshwater Fish Farming) (Level 3)
- National Certificate in Aquaculture (Level 4)
- National Certificate in Seafood (Level 4) with strand in Aquaculture
- National Certificate in Aquaculture (Diving) (Level 4)
- National Certificate in Aquaculture (Farm Management of Single-seed Pacific Oysters) (Level 4)
