Training DVDs
The Seafood ITO has developed DVDs to train fishermen in the design, construction and operation of trawls as well as knot tying, net mending and rope splicing. The hands-on and comprehensive DVDs were produced in response to the evolving requirements for training resources. They support the Seafood ITO unit standards covering these time-honoured skills and have been developed with industry input.
Tying Knots & Net Mending
The double DVD, Tying Knots & Net Mending deals with net-mending, knot-tying, whippings, rope-splicing and rigging tackles. Nelson Fishing School tutor Brian Fossett is the demonstrator on the DVD.
Design & Construction of Trawls and Operation & Rigging of Trawls
The double DVD, Design & Construction of Trawls and Operation & Rigging of Trawls deals with the basics of trawl technology. The DVDs look at the general design, performance and maintenance of trawl nets and explains what happens to the net when it is changed or its towing conditions are altered. Partly filmed at the North Sea Centre Flume Tank Laboratory in Denmark, this training resource features Danish instructor and Gear Technologist Ulrik Hansen.The price per double DVD is:
