2010 Training Programmes

Training to become a workplace assessor and/or a trainer in the seafood industry.

 

The Seafood ITO helps seafood companies’ train and then access workplace training to enable their staff to gain the appropriate unit standards & qualifications applicable to the seafood industry.

 

Unit standards are registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at a specified level, ranging from 1 to 10. The level relates to the complexity of the unit standard. Workplace unit standards are generally registered at levels 1-6.

 


4098 Workplace Assessor Training

This introduces the role of an assessor in the seafood industry and the process of assessing unit standards, and includes:  

  • The techniques of good assessment
  • Recognition of competence 
  • Seafood ITO’s recording and reporting requirements  

Dates:  

  • 23, 24 March 2010
  • 5, 6 May 2010
  • 26, 27 August 2010
  • 9, 10 November 2010 

Time:

  • Day one     9.30am - 4.30pm
  • Day two     8.45am - 3.30pm

Venue: Seafood ITO, Wellington.

To complete the assessment for unit standard 4098 you will be required to carry out 2 assessments (covering a minimum of 6 credits).

At the workshop you will have an opportunity to complete the first assessment.

After the workshop you will need to be observed assessing someone in your workplace, to complete the second assessment.


11552 - Design Assessment

This assists with the designing of assessment materials to support delivery.

  • 16, 17 June 2010 
  • 27, 28 October 2010 

Time:   

  • Day one     9.30am – 4.30pm
  • Day two     8.45am – 3.30pm

Venue: Seafood ITO, Wellington.


Train the Trainer

This course is for those doing training as a substantial part of their job. 

The following Unit Standards will be part of this programme:

  • 7103 - Determine adult training requirements of individuals
  • 7108 - Deliver on the job training to adults
  • 1304 - Communicating with people from other cultures
  • 9705 - Give and receive feedback
  • 1312 - Give oral instructions in the workplace
  • 11097 - Listen to gain information in an interactive situation

Dates: 

  • 24, 25 August 2010

Time: 

  • Day one     9.30am - 4.30pm
  • Day two     8.00am - 4.00pm

Venue: Seafood ITO, Wellington.

You will receive an email confirming your place and then we will organize your travel with you.  Please note the course must reach a minimum number of participants to go ahead.
Cost

These workshops are provided free of charge to seafood industry employees. This includes; training, resources, assessment, all travel accommodation, and meals related to this training.
